New home required for two beautiful pooches, Chanel and Saba – Must be kept together. Chanel is a female black lab and Saba is a blonde male lab. They are both the same age, being 2 years and 1 month. They love swimming, running, playing throw and catch, tug of war, hugs and kisses. Saba loves to shake hands and Chanel loves cuddles. They are both very lovable and intelligent dogs.

It’s always wonderful to hear special news!! Loxie the magnificent Dingo we photographed as part of our WA Dingo Association (WADA) photo session in February gave birth to four dingo pups last night! Two girls and two boys! We are heading out to see Loxie on the 12th June to photograph her new arrivals for the WADA 2011 calendar!
Congratulations to Loxie and Wylie (proud dad) on the birth of the puppies! We can’t wait to meet them all and I just know they are going to be so adorable coming from such regal dingo lines! Oh and congrats to their human “guardians” Leigh and Daz too!

…that’s around 7,000 dogs who attended this years RSPCA Million Paws Walk in Perth. Every year the walk seems to get bigger and better – and this year was no exception! We got up bright and early for our 7am set-up on site, and went about readying our display marquee and studio pet photo booth for the event. The display marquee was designed by Debora and manned by Debora and Rachael. It was a visual masterpiece, with lots of beautiful prints to look at! Every time I peered out of the photo booth I marvelled at the constant stream of people checking out our products and making enquiries at our stall. Thanks to everyone who came by! We had a record number of entries for our “Guess the dog treats” competition, and Elliot of Booragoon took home the big prize of a $500 photo session at Houndstooth Studio! Congrats to Elliot!
To cover off on the rest of the Million Paws Walk arena, Suzie, Em, Daniel, and Di (with puppy Jack in tow) were on foot patrol, handing out our flyer’s and answering enquiries.
I took pooch pics in the studio pet photo booth for three hours and there was a 20 metre long queue lined up at the door for most of that time! It was great to see so many of our clients and Facebook fans participating in the photo booth too! We raised a stack of money from print sales on the day, all of which went straight back to the RSPCA. Online orders are now available too until 19th of June. Our three volunteers (one on “security” and two on the “till”) did a fantastic job and really got into the spirit of the day with us – we are going to request them again next year! As always, Clare assisted with the animal wrangling, positioning the dogs for their photos. She worked harder than ever, giving 110%!
As the official photography partner for the RSPCA in WA, we can’t wait for next year’s Million Paws Walk. Enjoy the selection of pics from the pet photo booth!

Congratulations to a young man by the name of Elliot who won our “Guess the dog treats” competition at last weekend’s RSPCA Million Paws Walk. Elliot was the only person to guess the exact number of treats and has won a Houndstooth Studio pet photo session, plus $500 to spend on prints and products. He owns two Labradors and his dad tells me he excited beyond belief to have won.
Well done Elliot!! We look forward to seeing you and your family in the studio soon!
The studio has been buzzing with activity lately! Some canine clients from one of our recent Saturday sessions included Ollie the Schnoodle and his little sister Gracie, also a Schnoodle. Ollie first visited us in mid-2009 for a photo session with his feline friend Bella. For his second visit, he bought Gracie along to meet us. The pups were simply adorable and they could do the synchronised head tilt to perfection! Cuteness plus!
The same morning we also met Taj, an eleven year old German shepherd cross. Taj was one of the youngest “over 10’s” we have had the pleasure of photographing. He had a lovely shiny coat, white teeth and clear, cataract free eyes! His ‘parents’ Jeanette and Brad put it down to his all natural diet, and believe he has grown younger over the past few years! Taj has a lovely nature and was a natural in front of the lens.
And rounding up a fab day in the studio, Inspector Ruth from the RSPCA WA bought in her beautiful two year old pooch Leyla for a portrait sitting. Leyla had so many varied poses, each one full of poise and grace, synonymous with the German Shepherd breed. The photo of Leyla with her head on her paws is one of my new personal favourites! How can you not melt at the sight of those big brown eyes!?!
More images from each studio session can be found on our Gallery page.
Houndstooth Studio recently formed a marketing partnership with the Sunday Times “Home” Magazine. Once a month we will be providing one of our pet photographs to accompany dog trainer extraordinaire Kathy Kopellis McLeod’s “Perth Dog Whisperer” article. Our first image was a shot of athletic staffy Maggie leaping into the air. Maggie’s mum Kath was thrilled to see the quarter page photo of her pup! The next article goes to print on the first Sunday in June so be sure to keep an eye out for it! The HOME magazine is also included as part of the Weekend Australian newspaper!
Houndstooth Studio is proud to be a sponsor for the inaugural Doggies Breakfast which will be held on Sunday 23rd May in the Reg Bond Park, Viveash. Presented by the City of Swan’s CAN Program for the Viveash Community Association, the breakfast is hopefully the first of many to be held across Perth.
We are offering a studio photo session plus $500 worth of prints or products to one lucky participant, plus the first 100 people to arrive will receive a surprise dog goody pack! Each free registration includes a sausage sizzle and door prize ticket!
Along with Houndstooth Studio, the event is co-sponsored by Animism – Human & animal counselling who are offering a prize of free consultation to learn what your animal is thinking, and Better Pets and Gardens who have 100 x $10 dollars off coupons to hand out! If you have any pet health questions, you will be able to ask Vet Gary Beilby, who will also be in attendance.
