A FILM FOR ALL! Last night we went to the  VIP home town screening at Event Cinemas Innaloo and it was everything we hoped it would be, and then some.

Attended by 400+ guests, dignitaries, and cast members, including Producer Nelson Woss, Managing Director of Roadshow Films Joel Pearlman, Minister of Health, Culture and the Arts the Hon John Day, the US Consul General for WA Rachel Cooke, and the canine star himself Phoenix (AKA ‘Red Dog’), everyone was thoroughly entertained and brought the house down with applause at the end.

‘RED DOG : TRUE BLUE’ is an exceptional film for all ages, with everything you could possibly want from a prequel – drama, action, excellent acting, exquisite cinematography, a fantastic story, iconic Australiana, and an unbreakable bond between a boy and his dog. There’s even a cameo from a Dogs’ Refuge Home of WA puppy.

I was privileged to photograph the original Red Dog, Koko, several times before he passed away and loved that ‘RED DOG : TRUE BLUE’ was dedicated to his memory. Without giving away the storyline, I needed my tissues in the first few minutes, when flashbacks of Koko came up on screen. He was such a clever, beautiful boy and has been represented honorably in his early years by new pooch on the block, Phoenix.

It’s a 10/10 score from me and a bonus sense of pride that it was filmed in the Pilbara, and mentions Tom Price, my home town.

‘RED DOG : TRUE BLUE’ is officially released on Boxing Day. Put it on your MUST SEE list and tell your family and friends.

Thanks to the best event photographer in town, Julie K Photography for these pics.

Red Dog himself (Phoenix) gave out a Houndstooth Studio prize valued at $1890 tonight. Love these pics of him holding our voucher and meeting the lucky winner. Oh, and I would like arms like his trainer for Xmas (at left in first image).

‘Orphaned Babies’

Oooh! Just found out my series ‘Orphaned Babies’ was named as a winner of the PDN FACES PORTRAIT competition in the Professional Animal Portrait category. The stars of the series are four adorable baby Australian natives, who were rescued and taken into the care of Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary (Max the wombat, Tassie Devil and Quoll) and Lyn Manuel of Wildlife Care WA inc (Calvin the Joey).

AMRRIC – Animal Management in Rural & Remote Indigenous Communities.

One of my greatest privileges to date (both personally and in business) is photographing the work of not-for-profit organisation AMRRIC – Animal Management in Rural & Remote Indigenous Communities. throughout Australia. To see the contribution they make, not only to the animals they treat, but overall to our indigenous communities, hits you in the heart.

We have an incredible new AMRRIC project in the planning for next year, but in the meantime the 2015-2016 AMRRIC Annual Report has been released. During the last last 12 months, AMRRIC facilitated veterinary programs in 92 different remote communities and homelands, and safely and humanely surgically desexed 1015 dogs and cats, and administered 6907 anti-parasite treatments.

To compliment this, their education team completed 57 visits to 28 different communities and outstations, sharing AMRRIC’s message that ‘healthy dogs contribute to a healthy community’ with 790 adult community members and 1074 students.

Such amazing achievements, thanks in most to donations from the public.

If you would like to know more about AMRRIC, please take the time to read through their annual report (link below) and consider lending your financial support. Deb and I can attest first-hand to the way your dollars will be used to make a big difference.
