Visit us at the Million Paws Walk and you could win!!!

This year the RSPCA Million Paws Walk (MPW) is being held on Sunday 16th May 2010 and the Perth walk will kick off from the beautiful South Perth foreshore. Last year over 15,000 people and their pooches attended, not to mention some ferrets and a mini pony too! We are hoping that the 2010 MPW will be bigger and better than ever. It is the most important event on the fundraising calendar of the RSPCA and  with over 144,000 animals nationwide finding shelter at the RSPCA annually, every dollar counts. It’s a great way to spend the day with your dog and there’s something for everyone - including stalls, food, a doggie wash, entertainment, giveaways, special guests, a pet photo booth, and the main event, the walk!

I’m proud to announce that Houndstooth Studio is a Gold Sponsor for the MPW and as I’m the official photographer for the RSPCA in WA, we are also the only photography business exhibiting and working at the event. We will be running a pet photo booth from 8:30am until 11:30am, where you can bring your pet along for a mini photo session. Photos can be ordered on the spot, will all money raised going directly to the RSPCA WA.  There are two sizes of photo available (5in x 7in and 8in x 10in) as well as an A4 sized MPW commemorative poster starring your pet! Plus we will have a display marquee where you can view our stunning product range, ask about our photo sessions, and enter our free competition with a prize of your very own studio pet photography session.

So make sure you stop by one of our marquees to say hi! We’d love to see you! And be sure to check your MPW show bag for our latest Houndstooth Studio flier!

Exciting New Partnership with Murdoch University Veterinary Hospital

We’ve kept some marvellous news under wraps until it was finalised, but now we can let you all know! We are thrilled to announce a new photography partnership with Murdoch University Veterinary Hospital! The Murdoch University Veterinary Hospital is the teaching hospital of Murdoch University School of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences and it’s where WA’s internationally respected veterinarians are crafted. The hospital aims to provide professional specialist level treatment and comprehensive care to their animal patients, through cutting edge technology and groundbreaking research.

Over the next few weeks we will be providing a series of aluminium mounted studio photographs to be displayed in the clinic, as well as copies of our new 7in x 7in coffee table book. Also keep your eye out for our images appearing on promotional material for the hospital in the near future.

Earlier this week we fulfilled part of our new agreement by attending on site at the Murdoch Equine Centre and captured some studio and natural light images of Wienna, a 14 year old, Hanoverian Warmbood Mare, imported from Holland.  Jet black, and 17 hands high, Wienna  is one of the most stunning horses i’ve ever laid eyes on and the intention is that she will become a pivotal part of the centre’s breeding program. Taking photographs of a horse 17 hands high in a studio set-up is no mean feat – it’s ambitious and difficult – but with the help of Dr  Brogan and two fabulous staff members, the team effort ensured we got the ‘shot”.

This is an exciting new partnership for Houndstooth Studio and we thank Murdoch University Veterinary Hospital for the opportunity to work together to promote both Houndstooth Studio and the Veterinary Hospital through quality images.

RSPCA WA School Holiday Program

As part of my official photographer duties for the RSPCA WA, twice a year I conduct pet photography classes for children aged 8 to 12. The sessions are part of the RSPCA’s school holiday program and staff rate them as the most popular activity of the program! Participants learn several tips and tricks to help them take improved animal photos and a practical session of photographing animals is held too. It’s great value for only $25, all of which goes to the RSPCA WA.

This year we are running two classes on two dates;

Friday 8th January 2010 from 9:30am to 11:30am and 1:30pm to 3:30pm

Tuesday 28th September 2010 from 9:30am to 11:30am and 1:30pm to 3:30pm

For more information on the RSPCA WA’s school holiday program click here, or to make a booking call 08 9209 9325.
