Found out earlier today that all three of my entries in the professional section of the International Photography Awards were awarded Honourable Mentions – ‘Perfect Imperfection Dogs’ photo series in the Special : Pets category, ‘For the love of dogs’ photo series in the Special : Pets category, and ‘Winged’ in the Special : Digitally Enhanced category.

Considered to be the ‘Oscars of Photography’, the 2017 International Photography Awards received 14,273 of submissions from over 165 countries. Pretty thrilled to be awarded amongst those numbers. Congrats to my buddies and fellow WA photographers Seng Mah from Venture Photography Workshops, Johannes Reinhart from, and Brett Canet-Gibson of Twine – Ideas That Bind who also took home HM’s. What a way to represent.

It’s bittersweet that the featured image for my ‘Perfect Imperfection Dogs’ photo series submission is rescue pooch Jakk as a puppy. Jakk was discovered in a rubbish bin when he was a day old and ended up being cared for (and subsequently adopted) by Edith of WA Pet Project. He had malformed front legs but he never let his disability hold him back, learning how to bounce around to get from A to B. Everyone who met him fell in love with him, and he had a global fan club of people inspired by his determination. Sadly Jakk passed away recently and our collective hearts were broken. He lives on forever in our memories. ❤️…

Beyond thrilled to hear my photo series BIRD FACE took out the Professional PETS category of the International Photography Awards. Just can’t believe it!

Also picked up 5 x Highly Commended Professional Awards for Bear Apartment Six (Special – Other Category), Zen Dogs Photo Series (Pets Category), Wild Antarctic Series (Nature – Wildlife Category), Orang (Fine Art – Portrait Category and Digitally Enhanced Category).

The International Photography Awards 2016 received 17,040 of submissions from over 162 countries. Could not be happier with this result – it’s way beyond what I expected and I’m still in shock. 🙂

Congrats to Russell Ord of Russell Ord – Photography for bringing it home in the Sports Category and to Brett Canet-Gibson from Twine – Ideas That Bind for his 3rd place in Fine Art – Still Life Category. Legends!
