Win in our Pet Photo Competition!

WIN WIN WIN

Win with Houndstooth Studio in our pet photo competition! There are two prizes – so two winners and anyone can enter no matter where you live!

WHO AND WHEN

The competition is open to all Houndstooth Studio Facebook followers from now until 5pm WST on Tuesday 6th March 2012.

HOW

It’s easy to enter – Just upload a favourite and fun pet photo here then post your photo link onto your wall and send your photo link to friends and ask for their vote. Make sure you let them know that only VOTES count and not LIKES!

One photo entry per person can be submitted and you must have taken the photograph yourself and be able to produce the original file if requested. The photo can be of any domestic pet (yes, os if your sheep is domesticated, go for it), not necessarily your own. One vote per person can be placed per day.

The two winning images will be the photos with the most votes where the photographers location is:

Perth (Winner 1)
Outside of Perth (Winner 2)

… as of 5pm WST on Tuesday 6th March 2012

WHAT

The prize for Winner 1, the resident of Perth, whose image receives the most votes (and who lives within 1 hour of the Perth CBD) is a 2 hour one-on-one Better Pet Photography lesson with our multi award winning photographer Alex Cearns AND a studio pet photo session for up to two pets from the same household including a 5inx7in print. This photo lesson will take place in the winners home and will be a fun and informative session filed with tips to help improve their pet photography.

And the prize for Winner 2, those outside Perth (including interstate and overseas), whose image receives the most votes will be a $100AUD donation made on your behalf by Houndstooth Studio to an animal charity of your choice, AND a 12in x 18in wildlife print from our website, also of your choice.

AND

The judge’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Prize is not transferrable or redeemable for cash.

GO CRAZY!

So get snapping and uploading and don’t forget to share your photo link with friends and ask for their vote! Good luck!

Exhibition for the Bali Animal Welfare Association

Houndstooth Studio invites
you to

Look Twice – the animals of Bali as never seen before.

 One Night Only
Photographic Exhibition & Fundraiser

 6:30pm – 9:30pm Friday 8th June 2012

Tompkins on Swan, cnr Dunkley Ave &  Canning Hwy, Alfred Cove, Perth WA

The Look Twice exhibition showcases the animals of Bali as never seen before. These uplifting and poignantly beautiful images reveal their strength and spirit, and are a testament to the valuable work undertaken to save their lives.  You will fall in love with every one.

Just like our pets at home, Bali animals deserve to be loved, cared for and nourished. Yet thousands of street dogs, cats and other domestic animals in Bali endure starvation, disease and neglect. Left unattended these animals suffer enormously. Tourists in Bali can be overwhelmed by the distressing sight of animals in pain and often don’t know how to help.

The Bali Animal Welfare Association (BAWA) is dedicated to reducing the suffering of Bali’s street dogs and other animals by running a 24 hour animal ambulance rescue service, a mobile sterilisation clinic for population control and rabies eradication, a fully staffed veterinary clinic and rescue centre in Ubud, an animal adoption program, and a continually expanding range of community education programs to improve the health and welfare of Bali animals …but it is increasingly difficult for BAWA to continue this amazing work without the  desperately needed funds to support these operations. BAWA is funded entirely by individual donations, fundraising projects and the kind efforts of volunteers. They don’t receive government support and urgently need our help!

In January 2012 we flew to Bali and photographed more than 50 rescued street dogs, cats, puppies, kittens and other species including rabbits, piglets, ducks, lizards, turtles, snakes,  roosters, ducks and monkeys in temporarily constructed studios around Ubud. This is the first time Bali street animals have been photographed in the clarity of a studio environment and the results are deeply moving.

Sixty exhibited images will be available for purchase in two sizes and fabulous silent auction items, generously donated by compassionate businesses, are up for grabs.

We invite you to be a part of this special one-night-only exhibition. Together we can help BAWA change the lives of Bali animals.  100% of profits from “Look Twice” go to BAWA.

Beautiful Boxer Site

Sometimes you see a web site that makes you go “Awwwwwwwww” … and the “Benfelds Boxers and a Griffon” site does just that! The site is managed by Vickie, a loyal supporter of Houndstooth Studio. It features some of  the portrait images we captured of Vickie’s boxer gal Charli and griffon Monty – plus some adorable boxer pup photos taken by Vickie herself. The presentation of our pics really is superb and Vickie has created a professional and comprehensive website containing everything you need to know about her beloved boxers.

If you are in the market for a healthy, happy boxer pup from quality bloodlines, then Benfelds Boxers is one website you don’t want to miss. Check it out the home page by clicking here, or the photo gallery by clicking here.

A special dog needs a new home!

Recently one of our fab facebook fans posted a pic of an adorable dog named Ella. She currently resides at the Animal Protection Society (APS)  in Southern River and needs a loving home. Something about Ella prompted me to ask about her circumstances, and request more photos. It turns out she is a very special little gal.

Ella is a small/medium sized female staffy, aged 2 years. She is an extremely friendly, affectionate and loving dog – smiling widely at everyone who passes by her kennel. She has a slightly deformed front leg (from birth) but this does not affect her ability to walk at all. She is enthusiastic and playful and loves to explore her surrounds.

Ella walks well on a lead and is more than happy to stop at intervals for cuddles. She would make a fabulous companion and would reward you each day with her loving nature.

The cost of adopting Ella is $300.00 which includes sterilisation, vaccination and micro-chipping.  Ella would welcome a visit from anyone keen to consider making her part of the family. Please don’t hesitate to contact the Animal Protection Society on 93986616 if you would like further information on Ella.

The APS depends upon your generous donations. Do they have items on their wish list you may be able to provide? Click here to view their website.
