Win in our Pet Photo Competition!

WIN WIN WIN

Win with Houndstooth Studio in our pet photo competition! There are two prizes – so two winners and anyone can enter no matter where you live!

WHO AND WHEN

The competition is open to all Houndstooth Studio Facebook followers from now until 5pm WST on Tuesday 6th March 2012.

HOW

It’s easy to enter – Just upload a favourite and fun pet photo here then post your photo link onto your wall and send your photo link to friends and ask for their vote. Make sure you let them know that only VOTES count and not LIKES!

One photo entry per person can be submitted and you must have taken the photograph yourself and be able to produce the original file if requested. The photo can be of any domestic pet (yes, os if your sheep is domesticated, go for it), not necessarily your own. One vote per person can be placed per day.

The two winning images will be the photos with the most votes where the photographers location is:

Perth (Winner 1)
Outside of Perth (Winner 2)

… as of 5pm WST on Tuesday 6th March 2012

WHAT

The prize for Winner 1, the resident of Perth, whose image receives the most votes (and who lives within 1 hour of the Perth CBD) is a 2 hour one-on-one Better Pet Photography lesson with our multi award winning photographer Alex Cearns AND a studio pet photo session for up to two pets from the same household including a 5inx7in print. This photo lesson will take place in the winners home and will be a fun and informative session filed with tips to help improve their pet photography.

And the prize for Winner 2, those outside Perth (including interstate and overseas), whose image receives the most votes will be a $100AUD donation made on your behalf by Houndstooth Studio to an animal charity of your choice, AND a 12in x 18in wildlife print from our website, also of your choice.

AND

The judge’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Prize is not transferrable or redeemable for cash.

Named as Best Canine Photographer /Artist

I flew to Melbourne yesterday for a quick 17 hour round trip to attend the national 4th Annual Master Dog Breeders and Associates Dog Owner’s Choices Awards last night.  The awards are designed to recognise exceptional service and standards within the dog industry, and are the only awards of thier kind within Australia.

I was nominated by my lovely clients (18 times apparently!) in the Best Canine Photographer / Artist category – a field with 12 other photographers vying for the title and was thrilled when I was announced as the winner! I can’t thank the people who nominated me enough and am so appreciative of the time they all took to write submissions about their Houndstooth Studio experience. Thanks also to the major awards sponsor Dogz Online.

We were in good company too with Dogs Life Magazine winning Best Dog Publication in the MDBA Dog Owner’s Choice Awards – congrats to Laura and team. We’re proud to be a photography partner!

Am looking forward to working under the title of Best Canine Photographer / Artist in 2011 and beyond!

Swan Valley Camera Club Judging

Last night I had the pleasure of judging the “Pets & Animals” photography competition at the Swan Valley Camera Club. Overall the standard was very high, which made my decisions so difficult! It’s always easy to be subjective and instantly know if you do or don’t like an image, but it’s a lot more difficult to say “why” you like one shot over another, especially when the photographer is sitting right in front of you!

I wish I could award everyone a prize just for taking the time to choose the images they consider their best, then putting them out there in front of their camera-club peers to be judged – It’s so brave and I really appreciated the time and care people took in presenting their photographs perfectly. Well done to all the winners – there were some fab photos in amongst them all. And you have such a nice club too!  I enjoyed chatting with members after the judging and discussing images one-on-one. This was my third visit and I’m always made to feel so welcome!

RSPCA Prize Winner

This is Zoe, a nine year old Bouvier des Flandres – which would have to be one of the more unusual and rare breeds to be found. She was the winner of a $595 Houndstooth Studio photo session, which was donated as part of our Official Photographer commitment to the RSCPA WA, for their 2009 All Creatures Great and Small Fete’.

Wikipedia tells us: The Bouvier des Flandres is a herding dog breed originating in Flanders. They were originally used for general farm work including cattle droving, sheep herding, and cart pulling, and nowadays as guard dogs and police dogs, as well as being kept as pets. The French name of the breed means, literally, “Cow Herder of Flanders,” referring to the Flemish origin of the breed.
